The Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) MFA Graduate exhibition in 2016, curated by Doreen Bolger
, brought together the thesis works of four departments and ran across eight galleries in different Baltimore locations with broad themes—Fox 3 Gallery's theme: Home Remembered
—
Home and that homey feeling(s) is a topic of existential questioning. The artworks were developed through curiosity to articulate better
what it [home] means and what shapes it [to me]
In a circuitous form, short paragraphs and artworks created during my programme—often fragmented—my concept materialized through influences and inspirations from construction materials of the physical place, (changed) perspectives, shared atmosphere (comfort), and scents. Those elements determined necessary in shaping "home" and the overall body of work produced between 2014-2016 and referenced in my thesis: a space, not a place: home
I own one of the three hard copies created of "a space, not a place: home," each containing handmade identifiers/components pertaining to the artworks, processes, and sketches, making each a unique artist book.
